BEA releases WebLogic for Itanium

BEA Systems has released a version of its WebLogic software that runs on Hewlett-Packard's HP-UX version of Unix for Itanium processors, the companies said Wednesday. WebLogic Version 7 is available for version 1.6 of HP-UX 11i, the companies said.

BEA's software, used to run tasks such as sophisticated e-commerce programs, is one of a host of packages that HP is trying to coax to its new server line. HP, which co-developed Intel's Itanium line, is moving all its server lines and operating systems to the new processor.
