BEA, Compuware extend Java-modeling deal

Compuware and BEA Systems have expanded an existing partnership to make Compuware's application-modeling tools work more closely with BEA's WebLogic Workshop Java development application. The closer coupling of the companies' products will enable a programmer to more easily convert application designs into Java code, the two companies said.

Right now, Compuware's OptimalJ can generate applications that run on the WebLogic application server. With the enhanced integration, due in January, OptimalJ will be able to generate a Java component that can be manipulated easily as a visual widget, or control, from within WebLogic Workshop.
