Azul Systems co-founder becomes COO

Scott Sellers, co-founder of Java server maker Azul Systems, has been promoted to chief operating officer, the company said Thursday. Sellers will lead sales, marketing, engineering and operations.

Azul's hardware is designed to provide a centralized pool of computing power to run Java or .Net software. Azul is embroiled in a legal fight with Sun Microsystems over patent issues; several Azul employees formerly worked at Sun.
