AuctionWatch to start imposing fees

AuctionWatch.com will soon begin charging for its popular auction management offerings, including its auction counters and its image hosting and auction listing services. The San Bruno, Calif.-based company will charge customers 5 cents per auction and either 1 percent of the final value of each auction or a $200 yearly fee, depending on the plan that customers choose. The charges, announced earlier this week, will take effect March 14.

AuctionWatch competitors such as GoTo Auctions, Andale and Auctionworks.com all previously introduced fees for their offerings. Despite the new fees, some of AuctionWatch's services will remain free, including its message boards, auction news and auction search engine.
