Atheros licenses technology from ARM

Atheros Communications announced Tuesday that it is licensing technology from chip designer ARM. The move by the wireless networking company is meant to shorten the time it takes to get products to market.

Atheros is aiming to integrate its 802.11 chips and technology into more devices, such as handhelds, cell phones and other consumer electronics, than its current portfolio of wireless networking gear. Atheros licensed ARM's ARM946E-S and ARM026EJ-S chips.
