hmmm
I heard there are some places in the world paying the equivalent of $5 a gallon for gas, too much for me to agree too. And this Quote from the Article...

"But at least one economist - though there may be others out there hiding under their desks - said he thought that gasoline prices were still not high enough and that Americans in a time of war should be making greater sacrifices for their country through higher gasoline taxes."

You got to be F@#*ing kidding me, he dont feel gas prices are high enough, its bad enough that there are already people out there making sacrifices for the current gas prices here in the states.

I live in Florida and the current price as i wrote this comment was $2.59 a gallon and rising, I already see people penny penching it to get by on what they have, you also have to consider in my part of Florida the wage ratio isnt to good either, in this part i think they still consider $5.15 minimum wage and there are alot those jobs around especially since there are too few HiTech jobs here, and more recently i lost my job where i live to some place over sea's that the company moved to.

Raising the gas prices is only making it that much harder for those already struggling to get by on, usually because everything else goes up in price also, I had told my wife about a month ago wait and see when gas prices get higher your going to see alot more people driving off at the gas pumps.

The fool thinks TAXES should be higher
... he just thinks the taxes ought to be on the gasoline and uses the ongoing war in Iraq as his reason (wonder if he remembers there's still an ongoing war in Afghanistan too?).

I'd bet that "professor" either makes a lot of money or is in the enviable position of living close enough to his workplace that *his* gas costs are relatively small.

It's just common sense
You give big tax breaks...
You don't collect taxes...
Lots of money floating around...
Oil price is based on the dollar...
The less the dollar is worth the less oil it will buy....
Outsource jobs overseas...
Overseas people buy cars and use oil...
They also use other stuff...
GET READY HERE COMES INFLATION !!!!!
I lose my job due to outsourcing...
I pay less taxes due to lower wages...
Government also collects fewer taxes due to outsourcing...
Government can't afford Social Security...
Government can't afford Medicaid...
People get pi$$ed off and vote in Democrats...
Democrats bring in millions of imigrants...
Wages remain low...
We're F**KED...
