Ask Jeeves promotes COO

Online search company Ask Jeeves says it has appointed Claudio Pinkus as president of Ask Jeeves Business Solutions. Pinkus, who was formerly the company's chief operating officer, will lead the recently formed business unit and will be responsible for all sales, marketing, engineering and product development initiatives. The unit intends to help companies create profitable relationships with customers and suppliers, including Compaq Computer, Ford Motor, Nike and Hewlett-Packard.

Prior to joining Ask Jeeves, Pinkus founded two companies in the software and information technology sectors and served as chief executive of Bowne Global Solutions.
