Apple update fixes Mac OS X flaws

Apple Computer on Monday released an update for its Mac OS X desktop and server software to fix vulnerabilities that could be exploited by local attackers to gain unprivileged access. The Mac OS X 10.4.3 update addresses flaws in four operating system components: the kernel, Finder, Software Update and member groups on Mac OS X Server, Apple said on its Web site.

The patch is meant for Apple Mac OS X 10.4.2 and Apple Mac OS X Server 10.4.2. The French Security Incident Response Team, FrSIRT, rates the combined issues a "moderate" risk.
