Apple releases iPhoto update

Apple Computer on Monday released a minor update to its iPhoto digital picture storing program. Version 4.0.1 is designed to offer faster importing of photos, smoother image viewing and easier sharing of photos via Rendezvous. The new version also should improve thumbnail views of photos, though the thumbnails themselves must be updated to gain the benefits, Apple said.

The new software is available from Apple's Web site for free to owners of the iLife '04 suite, which includes iPhoto.
