Apple fixes broken OS X patch
Apple Computer has issued a new Mac OS X patch to replace an earlier one that some users said disabled support for 64-bit applications in the operating system. "We have issued a new version of the 2005-07 security update which resolves an issue affecting 64-bit applications," an Apple representative said in a statement e-mailed to News.com on Thursday.
The first version of Security Update 2005-007 was released on Monday. It provides fixes for flaws in various parts of Apple's software, including the Safari browser, Bluetooth wireless and various networking tools. The new update is available through Apple's Web site. Users who have already installed the earlier update should install the new version as well, according to Apple's Web site.

security update busting 64 bit support still up? And why did the
follow up story to this take so long to be posted? And why is it
posted at the bottom of the page? I quess it's not that juicy a
story and besides it distracts from the real facts and loyalty of

original fix. It was just an oversight. So Apple redid the fix with all
components this time and reissued it. No big deal - except at
CNET.
