Amazon.com on Monday announced new tools to help customers plan gift purchases and track their gift schemes for the holiday season. Gift Organizer is designed to let users build their gift recipient list and select gifting occasions such as birthday, anniversary or graduation. Based on each recipient, the tool links directly to Wish Lists, offers gift recommendations, saves gift ideas and tracks gifts already purchased, Amazon said.
Amazon's Gift Central will also feature shopping-theme articles and gift ideas written by editors of DailyCandy. Amazon has partnered with 40 magazines to create gift guides for different product categories and price bands.
What a great idea! It makes sense that Amazon would come up with a gift organizer like this and its exactly the kind of thing I would use - a central location for all my gift ideas for friends and family, and when I'm ready to buy, its right there!
But the tool needs to be integrated into the browsing process. When I see a product and I think, "oh that would be great from my friend jeff" I should be able to easily add it to the list of things I could buy for him.
