Akamai delivers Web services management tools

Akamai Technologies introduced tools on Monday to improve the management of its content delivery network. The content delivery technology company released EdgeControl, a management application for getting information about the performance of Akamai's Web content distribution services. The software can share information with systems management products targeted at businesses, including OpenView from Hewlett-Packard and Tivoli NetView from IBM, according to Akamai.

At the same time, the Cambridge, Mass.-based company unveiled an EdgeControl Management Center package. The suite of performance analysis tools is designed to cover network diagnostics, reporting, managing accounts and audits for Akamai's service.
