Adobe to launch media-sharing site

Adobe announced on Tuesday new updates to its photo and video editing software for consumers. Photoshop Elements 5.0 and Photoshop Premiere 3.0 will be available in about three weeks. Adobe is also launching a photo-sharing Web site, along with other new tools, as part of the update to Photoshop Elements 5.0. Adobe Photoshop Showcase links directly with Photoshop Elements 5.0 when users are connected to the Internet. It allow photos and flash galleries to be uploaded for sharing in a minimal amount of steps.

Three Photoshop Showcase service tiers will be offered based on storage levels that weigh an uploaded photo, video or flash gallery of photos equally as one storage "share," according to Adobe. The site will offer 1,000 shares with its free level of service, 5,000 shares for $3.99 per month, and unlimited storage for $7.99 per month. The site, which was originally scheduled to launch in conjunction with the software release, went live on Friday. In addition to some new functionality, Premiere Elements 3, Adobe's video-editing software for consumers, has also been updated to more closely resemble a photo-editing interface.
