Adobe sets date for new FrameMaker

Adobe Systems announced plans Monday for an update to its FrameMaker publishing software. Version 7.1, set to go on sale in January, will add functions based on Extensible Markup Language (XML) support Adobe introduced in last year's overhaul of the software. The new version will include more sophisticated XML editing tools, support for cross-linking separate XML documents and filters for importing files from QuarkXPress and Adobe PageMaker.

The Microsoft Windows version of FrameMaker 7.1 is expected to sell for $799 for the full version and $199 for the upgrade. The Solaris Unix edition will cost $1,329 for the full version and $279 for the upgrade.
