Comments on: When Intel calls, Skype listens
Making a conference call from a dual-core PC? You'll be able to dial in more people if it doesn't have AMD chips, Intel and Skype say.

I would not argue that a "PC enthusisast" is more likely to buy AMD . . . BUT. . . 1) they are a small share of the market 2) they do not reflect corporate buying of pc(s).

Now if I can just find another company doing free internet voice calls.....
many of skype's features, such as calls in/out from pstn (cheaper than skype out, i believe). built on SIP, integrated w/ google maps, etc.
To make a free VoIP conference call with Yahoo Chat:
"How do I start a voice conference?
To start a voice conference:
Click the "Actions" menu in Yahoo! Messenger and select the "Invite to Conference" option.
Select friends or groups from the list and click the "Add" button.
Include an optional message.
Check the "Enable Voice Chat for this conference" option to enable the voice feature.
Finally click the "Invite" button to start the conference."

Sounds like smart marketing to me. I don't see anything wrong with it (AMD could pay companies as well, but they don't have as much cash on hand)
email Skype with threats, but it is AMD's lack of action that is the
reason for Skype working better with Intel than with AMD.
Zealots, wake up or **** you crybabies.

If I had a comptetitor that consistnintly made 90% of the revenue in my market . . . I would sue them to :)

all these AMD zealots would need the capability to make a 10
person call that they are on this board calling for boycotts?

Japanese, Europeans had done it and uncovered a ton of criminal records, now Koreans have done it. Will US do it?
2) You are misrepresenting the facts. Cnet.com news states "It was an unscheduled visit on Wednesday, but it took place during business hours. The KFTC officials wanted further information and documentation on Intel's business practices,"
So get your facts straight and don't believe everything you read on the internet.

Companies like Microsoft may worry about a 10% hit on sales in a competitive market. A company like Adobe though may see Intel Marketing dollars and a Intel campagin well worth taking a small hit in units for the few users that 1)buy AMD 2) decide to take a stand
- So If I Am Google Or Yahoo

- This move by Skype, even if initiated by Intel, is just plain stupid. Why alienate a large population of the PC market -- laptop and desktop. At this point Dell is just about the only computer manufacturer holdout that does not offer an AMD based model. Is this kind of behavior what we can expect from a company that is now owned by eBay? If I was a VoIP competitor like Google or Yahoo I would go partner with AMD to offer a similar fake performance bias and sucker punch Skype.

- AMD marketshare very small

- Intel sells 80-85% of the processors in the global pc market making 90% of its revenue. Amd, then, is somewhere between 20-0 (I don't know exactly) because it shares that bottom 20 with Cyrix, IBM, etc.
