Looks like a good idea, but ....

...but why would Earthlink users have to download that Total Access 2005 in order to use those protections? I mean, there are some free alternatives on the net for Antivirus, Antispyware, and Firewall applications, and there is no reason to let TA2005 to hog your hard drive (and suck resource as well :))

Toolbar from hell

First, I would like to say I love Earthlink's cable internet service. Excellent up and down speed and the service just about never goes offline. However, having said that I must really poo poo on the Totalaccess software. It would never update properly. It crashed my AIM software. And it used up an ungodly amount of RAM. I uninstalled it and I'm a happier camper.

don't forget the Spaminator...

Ebay could learn a thing or two from Earthlink, where all of us customers love our ISP even though it's software is all cranky and outdated...

I used to brag to friends about how well their "spaminator" software worked, but in the last 6 months it doesn't seem to be filtering anything and I've had to go with their pre-filtering "suspect email" process, a real redundant waste of time. Someone at Earthlink has to do a quicker job of getting the latest spam onto the big shared lists that they use as the database for the "spaminator" so it will work as well as it once did...
