Comments on: ID theft remains top concern for consumers

The number of reported ID thefts dips, but it still accounts for more than a third of complaints to FTC.

A time for change

It would be ridiculous for anyone to believe there wasn't a problem. Personal information (that can be used for ID theft) is released on a daily basis.

Companies act as though they have no fear of what consumers/clients/employees will do when their information is so recklessly handled.

Hopefully the FTC will take an ACTUAL interest in curbing this by making reasonable regulations that will actually be carried out. Requiring companies to uses anti-theft email software and encryption tools to help lock down their information.

Government Not On The Ball

Across the board, the U.S. Government hasn't been exactly good about it's security practices especially after the VA's 26.5 million affected Vets.

I'm afraid it'll take another catastrophic event for real change to happen http://ezinearticles.com/?Government-Security,-An-Oxymoron?-(Tips-to-Responsible-Computing)&id=339469

I agree with ID theft & fraud remains top concern for consumers but, not the Congress nor the law. I have informed every possible authority for this horrible crime, debts being over $100K. Nobody is doing anything, nobody has been caught. No wonder this crime is becoming so succelent!
