My check debit card was used that way in January
by william080886 February 23, 2006 8:07 AM PST
16 items were bought using my check debit card in January, but the items were shipped to me. I got a new card. I also put a 90 day fraud use on my card.

They should use statistical methods
by hadaso February 23, 2006 11:31 AM PST
Investigators of abuse of stolen credit/debit card numbers should use statistical methods to correlate abuse with data about where the cards were previously used.

OfficeMax might not be aware of breach of security because it might involve just a few employees, and the data might be stolen by a cashier without any problem in their own system. At the point where the card is being read the data can be compromised using a hardware keyboard-logger, just like those used in in public web access points. The Retailer might not be aware that an employee does this.

Debit Card Theft Victim Is PISSED
by ChristinaFell May 9, 2007 7:58 AM PDT
I found out yesterday that my card # was stolen and used to purchase large amounts of merchandise from the ***** Sporting Goods Website. This caused our account to be over $700 overdrawn! Don't woryy you'll be refunded the stolen funds they all keep saying, Yeah! In 7 to 10 business days after the police report is recieved. What these people don't seem to understand is, everything we had was in that account! We don't carry cash and our checks are direct deposited, so how am I supposed to care for a family of 6 for 2 weeks on $5 in change???? Then the detective tells me the perp most likely will never be caught! Like Hell!!! This is one issue I will not let go untill someone is held responsible!
