Decades, not years.

I am not sure about other mainframes, but IBM?s mainframes (including plug compatibles) have had the ability to virtualize hardware for decades, not years. They can do it at the OS level using IBM?s VM and at the hardware level using MDF on Amdahl?s IBM compatible mainframe and PR/SM on IBM?s mainframes.
