Whaaa.
The Open-Source movement clearly does not have enough resources or momentum to create its own modern programming languages and environment, so they have to beg for others to give away theirs. And when begging fails, they attack verbally.
the open standards that allow you to send such
ignorant posts. The question is not to open source
java but to open source the standard. Like C/C++
or any other viable language in existence. Sun
controls the standard which stifles innovation.
Anyone can create an open-source java compiler.
Unfortunately the standard is controlled by one
company which slows its progress.

(6 Comments)second have you ever noticed that its usally companies on the brink of disastor (usally brought on by bad management) that need a whipping boy (if I was cynical (and I am) I;d think this is tied to the ceo's performance bonus)
third the snake . M$ hires some of the best tech staff in the world but it hardly ever gets a new product to market. we've got sp2 which is the equivilent of one of the major care manufacturers relizing they forgot door locks on all their cars but will only fix it for brand new cars (note to m$ lawyers expect a class action lawsuit on this one your boss made some real ugly mistakes. Then we have "longhorn" delivery date: sometime in the next decade, features: everything has been cut out except nicer looking icons. Bill the structure of your company need to be fixed, You;ve gone from a company that successfully marketed other peoples ideas to a squalid little snake that sits around producing nothing but bizzare ideas that only your lawyers understand (and of course reap huge rewards for obtuse thinking)
