- Red Hat needs to wake up to the realities. The only way to beat microsoft at this point is with a REASONABLE pricing model and an operating system that will run windows compatible software. Who can afford to chuck all of their windows software to switch operating systems? This is the only reason I didn't switch to something else long ago. If I did switch, I wouldn't choose an operating system I had to pay for every year.
