More News.com Idiocy
by Apostata April 5, 2004 12:17 PM PDT
Quote from the article: "Yankee said it conducted the survey with Sunbelt Software and that the research was not sponsored by any outside company."

Hey, random news.com editor, why don't you follow the link to Sunbelt Software...what's that? Too lazy? Here: I'll do it for you. Let's read the first thing on the homepage:

"Sunbelt Software is the World's #1 Windows NT/2K/XP Tools Provider"

And you wonder why Linux/Open-Source advocates chill at the thought of another news.com article on Linux vs. Windows. It's just so obvious where news.com has it's interests in that debate.

Self-Selecting Sample = Biased Survey
by April 6, 2004 6:54 PM PDT
A statistical truism: When you allow the sample
to select itself, you get biased results. In
this case, respondents were subscribers to a MS
Windows related newsletter.

I am astonished that News.com are reporting this
survery long after it has been so easily
debunked.
