I'm not sure I'd follow their London directions taking you around 20 blocks to get to a shop 4 blocks away. ;-)

Maybe the second screenshot IS their walking directions. Trying a couple of simple routes near my home in Ottawa Canada shows that Google let this feature out of the lab a little too early...

I switched the London map to walking directions from driving directions. Thanks for pointing that out!
