I really love SodaHEad. If you into talking to new people, and really hearing what they have to say, this site is awesome. Many new users are pulled in from bands and other social networks. Any poll can be shared at any time, to let people freely vote, without registering.
The ability, to just poll your friends, is only the beginning of the fun at SodaHead.com! There are also groups, related subjects to search in categories, and a "rave" system, that gives praise to those that deserve it!

I used to be a user on sodahead but i left because it was full of hate, especially by some dissappointed individuals over the last election.
It was also full of propaganda and the worst dissappointment is that it seemed like there wasn't enough done by sodahead to tune down the hate. It was almost like a place where a bunch of "psychos" and "cult members of hate" go to chat and form friendship in political newsrooms and refresh. Personally, i don't see myself ever joining again.

I am a member now but have to agree. The hate and racism run rampant throughout the site. If you are an ultra conservative you are pretty safe. I can see from one of the replies you've received that the "RWNJs" are not limited to SodaHead. As a long time member myself, I have had to endure attacks like these on an almost daily basis - my crime? Expressing support for the President of the United States, objecting to comparisons of the First Lady to chimpanzees, complaining about calls for armed insurrection - all of which SodaHead seems to at least tolerate, if not encourage. Not long ago, a user named "Daylo" posted a threat to physically assault the children of Congressman Alan Grayson, asking people to gather any information they could about where these children go to school, who they associate with, etc. Not only was this threat reported to SodaHead management but to the FBI as well. Predictably, SodaHead took no action, despite their assertion of a strict "code of conduct". Part of the problem seems to be that a high level employee of SodaHead is one of the worst abusers of the system, posting deliberately distorted and provocative rants as "news" and then using the "block" feature to prevent any expressions of differing opinions.

When SodaHead began it was fun. Now it has become a battleground, eagerly feeding the right wing extremist hatred. I am proud to have drawn the attacks of these people, and I am just as proud of this country.

I was shocked and almost could not belive some of the views still held by many Americans about other nationalities. And such HATE against gays, liberals...you name it.
NOT surprisingly, Sodahead is frequented by and hate encouraged by many White Aryan individuals and groups, posing as mere dissatisfied citizens.
They have private groups that encourage swarming particual people that get more comments than themselves...that are on the left and debate and win arguments with the right. They have limited groups where only "certain people" can join. There is so much more. It is a scarey place to be, some of the polls are silly, or for the younger crowd. But politics are pushed and encouraged, and without this side of the polling, I don't think they will last long. I would go so far as to say that Sodahead should be on the list of Domestic Terrorist Sites, as decribed in the current regs. for Homeland Security. Since they do not just spout off in words, many of they outright encourage violence and overthrowing the American Government. It is this sort of site that makes me ashamed of seeing the internet come about. Fortunately, there are places like Cnet that help keep us sane.

I signed up on Soda Head, and at first it was fun. Then one day I had the audacity to disagree with a "very conservative Christian" and life was never the same again. Insults, threats, racist, sexist, sexually explicit comments were directed at me, although all I had stated is that the newly elected president would do things differently than his predecessor, and get the US out of a hopeless war, and that the past 8 years of misrule had caused the downward economic spiral, not Obama getting elected.

The sheer magnitude of the hatred aimed at me was appalling. And then there was the threats of physical harm for daring to say such things.

Funnily enough, none of this seem to have been against the rules. I couldn't understand why, until I saw a pattern. If you were a conservative who thought Obama was scum of the earth, you could pretty much say and do anything there. However, if you spoke out strongly against such comments, you would be reviled, insulted, threatened, and if you spoke strongly back against their treatment of you, you stood a good chance of having your account deleted, on the say so of a few select users.

It's sad when the site operators are so obviously playing favorites with the forum users.

I recently had my membership at Sodahead intentionally deactivated. In both my personal and professional life, I work hard at facilitating open communication and mutual respect among people regardless of differing opinions. Sodahead's policies and practices actually work to ENCOURAGE conflict and abuse. I had hoped that this was simply an oversight by the owners but after sending several messages to them about it and receiving no response, I have no choice but to believe it to be their goal as well.

The concept behind the site is excellent and I believe there is potential for it to be very successful. However, Sodahead has been taken prisoner by members whose dominant communication /social skills consist of intimidation and defamation. Unfortunately, Sodahead's TOS appear to be nothing but a fallacy, at least in any attempts to address the issue. This ultimately forces anyone with an actual ability to debate issues to regretfully abandon their expectation of the site.

It never ceases to be surprise me after my experience that there are still people who sing praises about the site. Perhaps they are those I mentioned earlier, who mistake respectful communication with hostility. My recommendation to anyone who prefers intellectual harmony when discussing issues, would be to look elsewhere.

I joined sodahead about a year ago and it's an extremely right wing website. Many of the ultra conservatives on this site are hateful and racist. If your not an extreme right wing conservative than you will be shot down on this site. You can prove these people wrong and they'll still come back at you with insults. I joined this site because it looked like a lot of fun. Unfortunately, I quickly learned that the site is rife with racists who post terribly offensive images, make inflammatory, racist statements with impunity. The site's moderators are either racists themselves, or are at least sympathetic to those who post the objectionable, racist content.

Discussion and robust debate can be fun and informative; however, the racism that is tolerated (and in some cases, protected) is something I cannot abide. It's a black mark on the site that cannot be compensated for by their hiring of professional bloggers or enhancements to their software.

I have to agree with the first commenter -- if you have a conscience, it's likely you will not want to support and participate in an online community where racism and hate is protected and fostered.

Reading these comments you'll notice the right blames the left and the left blame the right. As a long time member of Sodahead and a moderate, I'd have to say the right is absolutely the more hateful. And the site is run by the right so they have a lot more freedom to be abusive to the left.

You'll notice something else reading these comments that is consistent regardless of political affiliation. The site is rampant with hate, cronyism, and mob rule. Site administration often abuse their authority and power.

So before joining you may want to ask yourself this. Do I really want to help make these a**holes richer?
