Comments on: YouMail manages mobile voice mail like e-mail

YouMail's mobile voice mail management system looks good, but is tinged by a single controversial flaw.

Sounds cool but CallWave already offers the same service - it's free and works great!

So this article doesn't deter anyone with your singular experience, I've been using YouMail for well over a year now (T-Mobile) and haven't had a single issue. Every voicemail has been recorded. They've continued to improve and it has been a solid replacement for standard voicemail.

Recently I tried GrandCentral and I found YouMail to be superior in regards to capturing voicemail.

While not perfect (no iPhone interface for me is an issue), I wouldn't hesitate recommending YouMail to any of my friends.

I have another vote for Callwave...it's absolutely a pleasure to use. The transcription is usually pretty accurate, and it's quite helpful.

YouMail works great.

I'd bet that what happened is that Jessica failed in the call forwarding step, but succeeded in the speed dial step. In If that happens, calls are still going to her carrier's voicemail, but pressing 1 would go to YouMail, where there are no messages. All too commonly there are network failures or a lack of signal when entering the code to reroute unanswered calls - something that YouMail, Callwave, and any other alternate voicemail service needs to deal with.

It does sound like YouMail could probably do a better job of having people check whether they suceeded there with a test call and then help them if the provisioning didn't work.

Where's the free version of callwave? When I went to their website, it said 30 free trial - then $7.95 a month...

My initial sign up with YouMail went fine. But now after I sign in when I click on an item such as the Voicemail Tab I get sent back to the login page. Once in a while I'll get a session timed out window pop up.
