Craig's Little Helper
by C.H. Nathan May 17, 2007 3:59 PM PDT
Hi,

Nathan from Craig's Little Helper here. Nice to see the site getting recognition! :-) I certainly find it useful.

I just wanted to make one note. Craig's Little Helper does not actually "scrape Craigslist postings", as the article states. Basically, it works by automatically filling out the craigslist search fields, so you can enter a search query once, but perform the search in more than one city. Plus, it only runs the query on each city when you actually view the results, so from the perspective of the craigslist servers, it is the same as if you were to go to each city and enter your search manually. It just saves you the clicking.

Other than that, good stuff!

CL Buddy another good finder tool
by robertjohnson129 July 10, 2007 9:36 AM PDT
here's another (CL Buddy):
http://admin.clbuddy.googlepages.com/home
it sends emails or SMS text messages to your cell immediately when new items are posted, not once an hour. It will also send the contents of the link not just the link. It is great to get the phone number of the contact in the text message.

http://www.derosetechnologies.com/community/libcraigscrape works great as long as you're a little bit unix-friendly. Very customizable and highly recommended

I looked at many of them and really do not see much value from third parties. I wish craigslist founders created more core toolls that all of us can use. I always wished we could save searches (like on ebay) and get some sort of alers would be cool too...

I am currently using http://www.classifiedsmonitor.com for saving of the searches.
