It was high time that Microsoft was seriously challenged. Not knowing the details what the new OS would be, it might just shake up some old dust that needed sweeping for a long time. I just hope that Google took notice of MS's registry disaster and sealed its operating system from that of users and third-party software, and included a comptibility layer so that another branch of compatibility is not required now. We'll see.

The surprise comes from the fact that Google has Android as the anti-iphone platform and it is pretty good from a technology perspective. So why Google Chrome OS? The answer is the netbook market pioneered by hardware manufacturers as Asus eeePC. So will be ChromeOs to Win7 what Android is to Apple? Not really, the manufacturerers don't trust Microsoft to get Win7 right for the netbook market and they like the competition because Microsoft paid them well to continue to use Windows XP and abandon the android platform for the netbook. Linux is a bargaining tool. Good for business. For Google this is just a cheap investment as an answer to the Bing challenge and the message to Microsoft is: give up to challenge us in search.
