I'm already making a list of vanity URL's that I'd want...

I'm going to start by trying just my first name, because having the very first profile of a name that I'm sure is shared by countless others is very valuable.

The tough part for businesses is the "1,000 before May 31st rule." They may be anxious to snag their URL tonight, but most of them won't be able too. Hopefully Facebook relaxes this restriction once some of the fear of squatting passes.

Good forecast of things to come! I do wonder how they will manage multiple businesses requesting a trademarked name. Similar to karpenterskids' idea, I'm going to try registering a generic name that applies so that people can find it more easily (e.g. facebook.com/marketplace)

Once the 'land grab' is over though, if a business wants access to a specific URL that has already been registered, they can also try buying it in the aftermarket - similar to domain names. Assetize (http://assetize.com) is going to start supporting Facebook vanity URLs starting around the same time as Facebook launches it!

Didn't Facebook say there will be no markets for url sales?

Facebook did say that an account's vanity URL can't be changed once registered; but if there was a URL that I really wanted, I'd probably propose purchasing the account that owns the URL
