With Wowd, your computer is part of the data center; Yebol, meanwhile, makes semantic search interesting.

More "me too!" search engines. Lame.

And damn, we really are running out of names aren't we. "wowd"? "Yebol"? pfft.

I don't get this comment. What's "me too" about either of these products? When Google launched, we had Yahoo, we had Alta Vista. Who needed Google? As it turns out, it was *better*.

What's so horribly wrong with innovation, with trying to compete?

Try semote.com as well ;) Another semantic search engine I suppose.

Wowd sounds like a nice idea, a decentralized search engine is always a good thing. (as long as there are many people using it, that is)

I shall be watching this one pretty closely. (and i bet Google probably will too)

What about www.sweetsearch.com? It's Google powered, yet filters out link spam. Why fix something that isn't completely broken?

If that was the case why have more then one car manufacturer? Why use light bulbs when oil works.

Why fix something that isn't broken doesn't work in real life.

How about the new SearchClash.com API which allows you to make your own cool search such as TwBling. Twitter/ Bing news search http://buildasearch.com/sample/ It is all about innovation and letting the people make custom search related content. Do like the concept behind "Wowd".

What is the point of covering new sites and talking about features, if you need a freaking invite. It is like talking about a party and giving all the cool details, and then saying "sorry you are not invited"... News.com is ridiculous.

Oh for god?s sake! Wowd??? If they couldn?t search for a better name, how on earth can they search for anything else?
Guys, check out the cool stuff at aafter.com. Their toolbar is amazingly lightweight and they offer you a host of cashback offers too! I got a very efficient people search option and even homework help! No need for artificial wows on this one!

Why people commented about spell check ?. Although have a good writing grammar is important; it's really annoy to put someone in the spot in front of everyone. Be a professional about it and send an email or a personal comment like that directly, not to eyes of the world!

Regarding this news; competition is alway good..Alway encourage, push, force developer for new ideas come to live otherwise we will have a round rock for wheels. Can you imagine your car with one of those?

Just to add to the "me too" comments ... My company (http://www.deepwebtech.com/) has been offering "federated search" platforms for quite a few years. They represent an outstanding search option for professional researchers, like doctors, attorneys, scientists, etc. Some public examples include http://www.mednar.com/, http://www.scienceresearch.com/, http://www.science.gov/ and http://www.scitopia.org/.

Cheers. Larry.
