a service for renters to rate landlords and property managers on key tenant issues. Currently renters are at the mercy of the landlords and have to provide loads of personal info without having any real details about how responsive the property owners are to fixing things and returning deposits.
There is a large imbalance of power here and more information would immediately create a better balance between the two parties. The internet is really good at these sort of things and the service would be valuable enough to buy a month or two subscription, while people are hunting for new houses/apartments.
Additionally many current web biz models could be applied for example: carfax.com or thefunded.com
Many people, myself included, order something online only to receive it four days later and find out they needed a different size. This could help prevent a lot of disappointed customers and offer additional benefits for sharing similar views and opinions in the clothing retail industry.
And, of course, you could friend other users and comment on each others' stats, and you could choose whether or not to have your own e-mail address revealed. People who send or receive the most e-mails in a day could be featured on the front page and/or earn points. Or demerits. :) Might help bring attention to the e-mail glut problem that Merlin Mann talks about.
Is "MeMail" a terrible name? Yes, that's a terrible name. Forget I said that. Seriously. Forget it.
