Have just tried HDshare. The homepage of crackle scared me away in milliseconds. The limit for file size at HDshare is 4097mb. The video played ,not smoothly and then PC crashed. Sempron 2400 with 700mb memory. Some people would call that old . I know it's not new but if HD means a chain of "I'll have to get a better this and a better that" it doesn't interest me.
At Vimeo I was converting to 24fps as advised . That was juddery at blip until by accident I found 30fps mpv2 played more smoothly. Recently I've left as mov at 30fps but the juddering is back. If I go back to 30fps mpv2 and it's not smooth I would reluctantly have to consider tail between my legs Vimeo. The Facebook thing appeals to me espescially as my daughter implies anybody who's anybody is on it. I'll only be using it for the video though ,ha ha, I know my face doesn't fit.anywhere

I'll have to look for somewhere else people are discussing this.
I now use facebook. Did someone say it was limited to 2 videos a week . I don't think there is any limit. It's true that it doesn't seem to play that well in full screen but I'm just glad it plays well enough in regular quality .
I must try hdshare again because I found out it was a faulty power supply box that kept turning my PC off and maybe not the streaming . But they do watermark everything with hdshare logo which is a bit of a pain.
That cnet download I wanted to keep a secret and only gave you a clue, it's avidemux. Don't take any notice of some of the stupid comments there. To get something like this for free is unbelievable. I use it all the time. For the basic task of adding a different soundtrack and pasting video together it's worth it. If you stick to the same codec it's so fast but it can do much more complex stuff if you want to mix codecs and add filters .

It looks like it's my topic now. Here is an update on the continuing saga of trying to find the perfect HD video sharing solution.
I breifly went back to vimeo with tail between my legs. I uploaded an hd mov at 30 fps and the upload was unsuccessful ."check format "and stuff. I cancelled that. Don't want hassle of converting.
Went back to gootube. Not really with tail between my legs because I had a good reason to be angry with them. I could not watch the video in HD. My PC must be too slow. I discovered my PC kept turning off because of a faulty power box so hdshare may be OK after all. I cancelled my YouTube again.
But now I've discovered Miro and decided maybe it's better for me with this slower PC to download and watch in a player which Miro is.I'm going to try YouTube again and see if the "picture pops and is less washed out" as cnet says. At least I will then have an idea what my videos may look like to other people. The only thing about downloading Miro I didn't like was when it got to install it was combined with Ask.com search bar and there did not seem to be any option to just have Miro. I can see a search box now to the side of the address bar but it says "live search". I can't remember if that was already ther before. I've checked my prorammes to remove ask.com search bar but couldn't see it.
I will let me know how YouTube works with Miro.

Now I realize that the concept of a best service is a bit nonsensical. Maybe the only way to get what you want is to subscribe to 2 services. I use youtube ,blip and facebook now and sometimes upload a video twice. I know on blip I can always retrieve it and on youtube it can be watched in regular mode if nescessary,

vimeo is such a load of rubbish now. you just have to be a vimeo plus subscriber to get anything done on it. and that guy blake is everywhere who thinks he's so cool. makes me want to barff.idiots .the only reason I wanted to try it again is because it plays smoothly on my old pc. apart from that it's all about these snobby photographers doing boring timelapses and boasting about what make camera they have. maybe they just remember me from my zero rating of them. it just felt like i was being deliberately messed about. rubbish. vimeo absolute trash. has to be with a stupid name like that.

I can't remember what framerate you're supposed to upload to vimeo anymore, Those days of smooth playing seem long gone. I can never get vimeo to play anything smoothly now. Who can be bothered to read through the prefferred format and framerate for uploading?
