Comments on: How to be the most hated person on the Internet: Five role models

It's easy to be disliked and ignored, but it's quite another to be hated and obsessed over.

I stopped reading these blogs or following these people months ago. Why? Because its just a bunch of chatter with a whole lot of inside baseball by people who happen to have annointed themselves "social media experts." Never mind the fact that 90% of what they write sounds like they dropped LSD that morning. Gillmor is the worst and Winer isn't far behind. Their writing is just a bunch of words strung together that make no sense. If you've ever wasted your time calling into Gillmor's show, it is the most boring conversation ever. When they did a show on tim russert's death, some guy was trying to fuel controversy by pointing out russert's weaknesses. It was so lame. I don't know who is paying these people to jet around the world and give their "expert" opinions but all I can say is "suckas!" On the other hand, I suppose these guys are laughing all the way to the bank. Better save their money because people are going to wise up soon.

i agree that simply writing a critisizing blog is no grounds for "hate", although, even though it does not justify such a strong emotion i think many people do end up hating the writers.

dont know if any of you play pc games but i think Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw's reviews could cause alot of hate among fans / game developement companies :P

"...and what we think they are doing so well that we can all learn from"

Does anybody critically read any more?

I stumbled upon this post from a reference from the recent Gillmor Gang episode and Jason Calaicanis' email letter. I fail to take this post at the face value all of the negative press is giving it - especially from said characters mentioned. The people mentioned may have dubious celebrity stardom value beyond the perceived small fishbowl they swim in but they are a true manifestation of the Butterfly Effect. They are creating the ripples. The question is now as it was posted in this post, "(what) are they doing so well that we can all learn from (?)"
