I guess adding the requirement to the resident income tax form to report unpaid sales tax on out-of-state purchases for use in New York State did not result in the expected increase in sales tax revenues.
Of course, in my case, it simply caused me to curtail my spending in general. After all, I can't afford to be accused of tax evasion.
