Installed today and works great!
It's an uncrowded lean and smokin' fast browser.
Didn't have any of the issues mentioned. If one actually reads the instruction/error pages, it [Hotmail] works fine.
That being said it's not perfect [bookmark management] but it generally does the job!
Even with early somewhat limited functionality, it embarrases IE [which isn't hard :-)].
Good first effort Google code nerds!

Color me unimpressed. The monochromatic looks is unappealing and I'm not finding it render the site visit any faster than my FF or even IE. It also doesn't seem to render my own site accurately each time. Shrug... maybe I'm visiting the wrong sites. ; )

I'll give a week or so before I hit the uninstall button.

Chrome is so fast it almost gives me anxiety! I had attributed a lot of the slow loading of pages to my internet connection, apparently it was the browser. No offense to Firefox!
The scrolling is buggy. So far on my system it scrolls in the correct direction, but seems to jump instead of smoothly rolling. I'm intrigued!

Where the heck are my bookmarks? Speedy loading is great but not if I have to open the sites one at a time. Open all in Tabs rocks.

I think it's pretty cool. Especially for a beta. The speed of everything is amazing.

I haven't experienced any of the problems above as yet. There are some particularly cool features though:

- Drag tabs out of your window to create a new window. Or drag tabs/windows into other windows. I have been waiting for this feature for a long time.
- The "Incognito Mode" is a great idea. I know it's going to be in IE8, I wonder who thought of it first?
- Google search incorporated into the address bar.

One major annoyance I have found thus far is the lack of a home page button. This might become partially made up for by the Most Visited displayed on new tabs. But as I use my home page (iGoogle) a lot it would be a welcome addition.

click on the wrench.
click on Options
Click on BASICS
Set your Home page there
Then check the box which asks you to put the HOME on the toolbar..
Done!!!

You missed one of the coolest features under the Developer menu!

The Task Manager listed there measures the memory usage of all open browsers to let you compare.

I've got Chrome open vs IE8beta, FF3.1nighly build, and Opera beta, and it has way lower RAM usage.

Bye bye Firefox 3 and as for that Dinosaur IE 6, well good riddance. I LOVE this new Chrome browser..fast and user friendly. I miss the FF ad-ons but can live without them for now...its so blazingly fast I barely "think" of a site and its already there!!!
Well done Google!!

So I have been using Chrome all day and have been pleased. I guess first I should state that I'm a new web developer and have tested all my sites on Chrome with no problems. I tried Facebook and Hallmark, both with no problems. The only difference I noticed is that I can't click on the scrolling button in my mouse and browse the page with the mouse.

I understand the concern about the lack of plug-ins, however I want to ask the question, do all plug-ins work from Firefox 2 to Firefox 3? The answer would be no. That is how open source plug-ins work, developers have to create/update them first. Many plug-ins that I had for Firefox 2 didn't work in Firefox 3. I'm not going to mention speed because I haven't really had many problems with FF3.

So I guess I just want to say that I'm excited to see what happens with Chrome and am definitely not going to uninstall after 8 hours of it's release because it doesn't have any plug-in's created yet. This browser isn't for everyone however I feel that it is something that is great for the future of the web.

My page on netvibes does not show its standard bold text in the title of the feeds. the font it uses instead is really horrible and thick.

Has everyone forgotten that it is, in fact, a BETA?

If only I get get into gmail. It just comes up with a blank page. Puts me in mind of the MS Messenger won't work with Vista / O2 website only works on IE when unlocking Iphones type of mess.
Or maybe I'm just thick.

Notice that everything Google has out is still in BETA form. GMail is and it's been out for a long time. Google's way of not having to support it to the fullest.

I had lots of issues with Chrome yesterday. It failed to import my bookmarks properly and you can't really manage them. Unbelievable - are these guys blind?!#1? Back to IE8 and FF3. Back into the oven for Chrome for a lot more cooking.

Chrome has some interesting ideas, but it is really a Google marketing vehicle. With Street View and other Privacy goofs on Google behalf, I will never touch this browser. It will be a while before it is compatible with the Websites being created by other people (it took Firefox several years as well). Anything that is useful will be feed back into Firefox at some point, so Chrome is nothing more than Google trying to push the other browsers around to work they way they want them too for their services.

Good stuff: super fast

Bad stuff: ugly, raw and overly simplistic. Not nearly as convenient and appealing as FF or Safari. Also, it doesn't render some pages correctly by screwing up CSS (example: black text comes up as red). JavaScript doesn't work correctly on some pages.

We noticed to som bugs that took the shine off the chrome (so to speak). But overall there's enough in there that sparkles. http://gbckewroad.blogspot.com/
