isnt this a 'next-gen' version o photo turism witch ISNT made in photosynth/silverlight but in JAVA?

Yes, but it's taking the idea of Photosynth and making it more functional. It's not just a stream of pictures put loosely into 3-D canvas, it's actually using the pictures to recreate that extra dimension.

@Josh.Lowensohn: this is a preview of the PHOTO TOURISM ENGINE (on witch photosynth is based) and the article calls it 'photosynth' witch its NOT (nobody calls gecko2 'the next-gen firefox') - and the 'idea' goes the other way around
