  • On GameSpot: So-called 'Halo killer' gets 23 to life

Comments on: Save me from the Twitter clones

It was a great idea for one start-up. Maybe two. Or three. But this is getting ridiculous.

The more Facebook status grows in use, the more I think the real competition to Twitter lies in the proximity of the people in your Facebook network vs. a Twitter network of people I have rarely ever met. The ability to comment on status, etc and the integration of notes, and posted items and photos, etc could eventually prove a microblogging killer for the masses who really only want to communicate with their tighter network this frequently.

Rafe: perhaps having federated microblogging, so you don't have to choose between services based on where your friends are, would make the most sense. identi.ca has got the ball rolling with OpenMicroBlogging, and I hope to see it adopted by the Open Web Foundation for standardization. Let's make a social web that looks and works more like the document web -- distributed, linkable, and diverse.

Too many microblog sites, Rafe. Pick a couple and leave it a that. Otherwise a person finds that there are so many she/he spends a lot of tme simply going to all the sites. A single site that aggregates the few a prson may have would be the best thing to happen to microbogging., I'm on Facebook and see no reason to use others. I have a lot of work I do on the computer and can use just so many and I have a sneaking suspicion others are like me, including you. Use a service, any one you like, add ather or so, and aggregate them. Problem solved? No. But it's certainly a start.

They're GREAT **IF** you have multiple Twitter accounts though. This way, all you need to do is select the right application for which the message you intend to send and then post the message and watch it make its way over to Twitter.

Yes, I have the Twiteroo application too (It too is in use by one of my accounts). :)
