my recommendations are the Studio 15 and XPS m1530 with avaialbe coupons. They are both great looking and powerful for their price tags, and both have graphic card options unlike the above two

What about Macbooks? Easy to use, great for photo, video, and music. Plus you get iPod Rebates.... What more could you ask for?

As a MacBook user I find that the price tag is the biggest stumbling block for all who oggle mine.

yup, the MacBook Pro is a powerful laptop but too expensive, you can get the same parts from the still good looking m1530 for cheaper than non-Pro MacBook

I just picked up an Acer Travelmate 14.1 inch and I am having my schools logo put on the lid by laptop design usa. It's nothing crazy as far as features go, but I wanted a 14 inch laptop for portability and it will suffice for writing papers and surfing the web. I might even dual boot it with Ubuntu.
