Comments on: iPhone 3G: What we didn't get

The iPhone 3G brought many new promises, but it didn't give us a lot of things we expected.

Bottom line...if you have an iPhone...don't bother with the new one unless you are agoraphobic with no computer..you can get wifi at most places which is faster than 3G...3G network is nothing new and neither is GPS...if you can't find where you are or where you're going with cellular towers and google maps then you're probably SOL anyways...if you need it that bad then you need a Garmin, not a new phone. As for the design, it's not as thin or durable and it smudges from the oils in your skin. Not enough has changed for this product to be a second generation. I'll wait for the next one since this is just another attempt for Jobs to please his stockholders and not his customers (besides the mindless Mac fanatics that will buy a cardboard box with an apple sticker if Steve Jobs says to) -seriously, why do you think Windows doesn't have Apple bashing comercials? It doesn't need them...Windows doesn't need the people who want to browse internet porn and open "free viagra" emails virus free...it is 1000x better...It's simple..windows is for capability, mac is for convenience...tards vs. techs...just go to an apple store and see how knowledgable those employees are...to be one you need a neck (for the gay nametag) and a nagging attitude. Sorry for the rant...Apple, thank you for the iPod and iPhone...but if you're going to market something (esp. a Second Gen. product) dont half @$$ it and actually do something for the consumer and not just Steve Jobs' bank account. The iPhone is great, but what it COULD be is what really grinds my gears..

I see your point on the copy and paste of text in emails and etc and the limited Bluetooth, but the other features shouldn't be deal breakers. I will admit video capturing would be nice, but I don't need it that bad. Voice dialing, I guess if you are some one who does a lot of business out of your car than this is needed, everyone else stop talking/texting while you are driving, you are the people that make my insurance go up every year. But I believe there is a voice dialing App you can download from the APP Store if you really need it. Well after all that I like my iphone a lot and extremely happy with the purchase.

When I told co-workers that I couldn't send a photos to their phone, they laiughed. Another reason why I'm not upgrading to 3G. No MMS is like having a car without a CD player. Also no voice or video recording? What is Apple thinking? They've truly gotten lazy, IMO.

When my AT&T contract expires, my next phone will likely be an iPhone "knockoff" with the features most people want. So it won't have the cool little Apple logo and the hip factor that goes with it. Oh well......

I agree with all your requests. Once I got my Iphone, I was shocked at what wasn't included. I felt like I had gone backwards a few years. No A2DP? Seriously? Can't forward pics through text? Someone call Steve Jobs on his land line telephone and ask him if he's even heard of these advances (see Barney Rubble calling Fred Flintstone on his Shellphone). I'm having serious buyers remorse!

My Iphone is a pain considering you can't forward your text messages to the next person so you don't have to rewrite the message. I don't have a problem that it can't video but i would like the option of MMS and Bluetooth. I think its a bit backwards on Apple's part for not having simple function of bluetooth only for voicecalls. I should have just kept my my old 2G phone which did nearlly everything but email. 3G thought it was called that so video calling could have been done as well. Pretty disapointing. What what a mission jut to create a ringtone and that you can't eaisly purchase a ringtone from itunes and add to you tones. Also photo attachments can only send one at a time. Overall I found it was a disappointing purchase condisering the hype and excitement people had when it was launched. Disappointed in NZ.

Well for starters, I can't forward text messages OR emails. I thought that was a pretty basic feature EVERYONE had... so for the impressive iPhone to not have it is a big disapointment! And video recording and MMS is a MUST HAVE! I was shocked to find out I could do neither of these. The iPhone is still the best phone hands down but definitely still needs some improving. If I could have those three features added.... I don't think I could ever put this phone down!

I regret getting an iPhone. It cannot do a lot of things my old Sony Ericsson phone can. It can't be used to store regular files. It's effectively a small computer, yet you can't show presentations with it over an AV system. Bluetooth, as mentioned, is a waste of time feature. Also, you are locked into iTunes, which is perhaps the worst media playing program available at the moment, and you can't use it with Linux computers. I really hate vendor lock-in; so I really regret the lack of inherent flexibility of this product.

I think bluetooth for file transfer is very essential. It could be a quick small amount of data trasfer without usb port or internet connection available at that time.

this is the most frustration feature for me as i do get this feature from 15GBP cellphone but not from 440GBP smartphone device
