what exactly is so special about the iPhone compared to any other phone? The multi-touch screen! That's it! That's all! That technology CAN be licensed. It's not like Apple developed it! Beyond that, as I understand it's a pretty crappy phone - slow on the internet, drops calls, smudges easy and many people are more annoyed with the touch screen than we want to admit. Before anyone tries to pass the buck to AT&T, there's a reason they boast about "no dropped calls" in their advertising. iSheep, it's called crappy hardware. I still can't fathom how ignorant most people in the US are who actually purchase and tout this phone as if it's some savior. But, I think EIGHT DAMNED YEARS of Bush at least begins to help illustrate the obvious!

Watch people texting on an iPhone, especially at a bus stop on a sunny or rainy day. I'm sure they can't compare their superior screen and input device then either. Hell, texting anytime on a touchscreen only sucks. My sis-in-law has HTC Touch, takes her forever to text me back. Iphone w/qwerty might be great, but an accelerometer puts it into a different category?

Some of these comments seem to be typical Apple-Hater talk. Look, I love
my iPhone. I'm not asking you to love my iPhone ok? It works well, I have
NEVER dropped a call on my phone, I DO think they are the best thing since
sliced bread, and the internet experience on the iPhone (although slow on
EDGE), is in fact better than any other "smartphone" on the market. It's a
better product than most, just like Apple's computers and OS. Apple users are
smug for the same reasons that people who drive nice cars (Mercedes-Benz,
BMW, etc) are. THEY ARE BETTER PRODUCTS. Sure, you can drive a Ford, and
yes they are cheaper, and yes they will take you to the same places, but how's
the experience? Do you enjoy driving your '96 Taurus wagon? I hate to turn
all philosophical here but it's a valid point. I enjoy using Apple products in
the same way as I like driving a nice car.

I don't understand why you apple people get so defensive about apple products. Sounds more like insecurity to me. And when you try to convince the rest of us how much better their products are it sounds like your trying to convince yourself.

Texting on an iphone on a subway?......Are you 13 or 14? Most Adults don't text
like children do, they use the PHONE feature, you know the one where you use
your MOUTH to talk? If you want to text like a prepubescent moron, then the
iphone isn't for you, . . get one of those super mature hip phones with the
GIANT keyboard on it. You'll see, after your an adult for a few years and out of
high school or college, . . texting ALL DAY LONG will lose some of it's luster,
that is if you decide to jump in and join the adult community.

Text doesn't always mean SMS, genius.

When I wrote "texting" I meant Text input. My office reaches us in the field by email, try talking in an email, Know-it-All! My "smartphone" continually updates my email, and I respond back promptly. I use a Moto Q, if it matters. A colleague tried the iPhone, said it took him too long for typing. Ever try Excel on an iPHONE? Good Luck. Hope my younger competition uses them though, I'll get my responses to my clients first, making the sale, but they'll have a SEXY phone they can use for job hunting.

Wow, haters all around

Actually, texting is not just for teen bops. At the age of 32, being an engineer and needing to stay connected to the office and clients I use text, email, and voice. I have played with an iPhone and chose the HTC TyTN II over it, and stand by my decision even after the SDK. The TyTN is excellent for business travel, I can use it anywhere in the world, hop on to local wireless, navigate to a meeting in a new city with the GPS, email, TXT, call blaze on the 3G network, use the bagilian programs I can choose from... The iPhone just does not cut it in comparison, and though the multi touch screen is to die for and it is slick (though I hate the silver and black on the back, it is actually quite ugly to me) it does not meet my demanding needs and never will im guessing. Its not meant for me, but im glad that you like yours, just back off the hate and insults. Oh, and another thing, The iPhone is more like a concept car maybe, the RAZR is your Toyota, and my TyTN is the Benz, look the stats up.

It's apparent that Tony G from NYC is as ignorant about cool electronics as he is about politics. Imagine where we would be if Bill Gates or Steve Jobs had listened to people like him... window 3.1, still. Not about iPhone vs others

I don't think you guys really understand what the article is about... it's about the iPhone's new gaming platform and the motion sensors plus how they were already found in other phones. German is just informing us about the iPhone and how even though it was a great device, there were others before it (and more original ones before it). Although I have to say, the part about not being able to compare the W910 is a bit farfetche'd. But I'm not going to go on about how they W910 is slightly better.

iphone texting

why does everyone say texting on the iphone sucks? have any of you actually used it for more then 5 minutes? the keyboard does take some getting used to, but its very easy to text, a lot easier, and faster, then using a qwerty keyboard, which i have used...im not saying its perfect, sometimes mine corrects words to totally different ones, but still..

Why do Apple buyers get so wound up when you legitimately point out a flaw? Don't take it so personally, man. Did you really think the iPhone would be the last phone you'd ever buy? C'mon, next year that same phone will be dirt cheap, 'cause WE EVOLVE and so do products (even ones from the greatest company of all time).

You said typing (text) is a lot easier and faster than a qwerty. If you meant a traditional phone keypad, I'd agree that screen typing may be quicker, but compared to a phone with a FULL qwerty keyboard, no way. Ever try using your phone with gloves or worse, when you have paint, ink(I'm in the commercial printing trade), or pizza-greasy fingers?

I played with my sister-in-laws Touch for over 2 months, and I have demo-d the iPhone many times, and I use a touchscreen PC (full PC, industrial build and use)at work, so don't think the complaints are unwarranted iPhone bashing.

I really wanted to like the iPhone, really wanted one, was following its development long before it was released, but it's not a panacea, it was made by humans, and has flaws.

If Apple keeps everything else the same, but can figure out how to put a slide out keypad (a la HTC Mogul, etc.) on it, me and a whole lot of other people are there man.

We'll be waiting for Ver 2, or should I say the iPhone for Business.

Just what I would expect from a liberal, a personal attack. You missed my entire point and got caught up in trying to discredit me and my point of view, just like the liberal facist I thought you would be. I never said that Iphone was that great. I am just stating that future advances in technology are based on the technology that "works" today. Everything Apple does not work but some things work a whole lot better than the PC world. I prefer linux and open source projects but I'm sure you have a problem with that to. Like the fact that the future liberal facist government can't control content or tax it. You should understand our economy enough to realize that we are all influenced by marketing BS and must do the research to find the truth about anything.
