It is true that microsoft could bring out a bluray player out anytime without the permission of just Sony alone. The Best way that I see is for microsoft to relese a new elite 360 that supported both Blueray and HHD formats so people woldnt have to buy a new bluray release of a HHD movie they already own. Of corse this new consol would need a bigger HD drive somewhere around 160GB-200GB would Suffice.

It could just be that,

I am very convinced that microsoft would develop and release an xbox with the ability to play blue-ray movies, but as of now, not to use the technology for games like the ps3. They probably would have to do with just an ad on to the xbox just like they did with dvd. Its simple; like many of you guys have noted, blueray, is not just sony is a lot of companies. Therefore one might thing that it would be no problem and very realistic to think that they could simply bypass sony and ask for everybody else's permition, but I dont think so. Im no expert but i THINK that many factors are going to keep things just how they are or are only going to be bettered with an add-on player not discdrive for games. Blue-Ray is not one of the ps3's edges against the 360 and also for the next few years for any other console available and sony being not the only one but perhaps the most important companie and comtributing factor to blue-ray, they would simply not let this happen. I think it doesn't make sence.
