Got a huge tattoo place here named JadeDragon in Chicago. Just got too much freetime I guess, or too much useless info in my mind of mush.
It's kinda cool

I *love* the design on the back, and the fact that it comes with a matching bag. The design on the inside looks weird, tho. Plus, a bit too expensive for me.. and I prefer 15.4"

There are those of us who use Vista

Without having listened to the Forons (tm) (Forum Morons) who find it very usable and easy to work with, despite having access to Linux and OSX. In fact I love the combo of Vista/O2007/Photoshop CS3 on my laptop.

C'mon, true, Jobs Inc. makes some nice looking products, but they come quite a premium. Imagine that other engineers actually prefer aesthetically pleasing designs! It's just about time the bean counters let them produce it finally.

It looks like some seizure inducing flyer for some silly techno dj show. All it needs are a few glow sticks.

Or you could just print out some decals!
by jonathan_a March 6, 2008 9:54 AM PST
That's what this looks like. Like someone bought some decals off Ebay or printed their own and sticked it all around a HP laptop.

While it's still nice, and you feel "cool" and "special" with your new artistic HP Laptop, you won't feel all that cool and special the day you cross another person sitting at a Café with the exact same model and art design.

Great Potential
by ojfrazelle March 6, 2008 12:37 PM PST
This has great potential, just think about cellphones, building a machine that could have changeable "faceplates"... You don't have to stick to one color or design, there could be hundreds.

This could be the start or something great

I currently own an HP with the special edition white. Everyone I have met loves how it looks. I think this new PC is the step in the right direction. HP has been giving their laptops a nice chioce of differnt deisgns. I think Apple will try to do something similar because with each new model they become more and more sterile. It's nice to have something fresh and new. This is a pib splash but I hope that this doesnt stop HP or other creaters from making more arstsy laptops

Retarded looking. Good for 12-15 year old skateboys.

It's about time!

Seems to me that if you can decide what options and colors and wheels and rims you want on a car to differentiate yourself from the crowd, why not with a notebook? As humans, we are allowed to have different styles and tastes. Bravo to HP for making this bold step towards freedom of expression!

Art vs. Technology
by Zekeds March 10, 2008 5:47 AM PDT
Why bash change? If you don't like it, don't buy it.

The market will eventually tell HP whether or not this is a wise move.

I don't particularly like the design either, but that's no reason to be rude.

Got a better idea? Share it.

So let me see if I understand this

Apple can take a laptop, chuck out all the useful stuff (connectors, optical drive, battery life, etc) and everyone drools over it.

HP produces something cool looking and y'all hate it.
