Could be super fun

I agree with some others that I don't really miss the rumble pack currently, however it might turn out to be even more fun than before provided that the rumble can interfere with game controls to make them more realistic. For example, if you're flying a plane or aiming using the tilt/balance feature of the controllers, the rumble could make it more challenging as you're getting shot or bumped into.

PS3 is doing good but not close to KING..

Sony announced the beginning of this year they were making a profit out of PS3, considering PS3 has been out a little over a year you think the profit took forever. The profit happened because of the price drop. PS3 seems they are doing well and with the dual-shock things are looking better but PS3 can't and probably will never have sales like the Nintndo Wii. The Wii for 2 years in a role has astounishing sales in their gaming system. Xbox 360 follows then comes PS2 and finally PS3. Maybe PS3 recently doing so well in sales it may have beaten PS2 yet.

No, Sony announced the GAMING division...
by make_or_break March 2, 2008 4:54 AM PST
...was making a profit, not specifically the PS3 itself. The PSP is still carrying the division, though it seems the PS3's profit outlook is getting better. Supposedly Sony is now "breaking even" (whatever THAT means) on the hardware costs (thanks to cost cutting in production--due in large part to the introduction of the 40GB model, and price reduction of parts and labor). But PS3 software sales is still the key to PS3 profitability. PS2s were for the longest time sold for a loss because game title sales were the REAL point where Sony's Gaming Division made profit. But considering all the division execs they chopped in recent months, it still can't be all that rosy in Sony Gaming if you try to read between the lines.

Even though PS3 sales have finally passed the 360, it should be noted that it's primarily because of the Japanese and European markets (Japan in particular is a true weak spot for the 360, where the home boys are extremely nationalistic). Sony's bound to improve here in NA in the future as well because of the Blu-ray victory, but some reports have said the sales gap between the 360 and PS3 had actually widened in the last quarter here in North America. Certainly during most of last year the regular published reports of PS3 sales in NA were absolutely dismal in comparison to the Wii and 360.

I suppose it's positive that Sony is finally turning the corner, though they still can't consistently design a great user interface for most of their devices if their lives depended on it. But finally a rumble controller exists (Sony, you should've just paid the license fee to begin with, but it's all water under the bridge now)...now just bring on all of those "great" exclusive games that were promised ages ago (I'm still waiting for even ONE breakout title that will make worth plunking down cash on a 80GB...).

Oh well, at least there's no rootkit (this time) to spoil the news...

You have no clue what is going on sales wise. Check out vgchartz.com and go to sales from launch. There you will see that the ps3 is tied with the ps2, and more than 15 weeks ahead of the xbox 360. The ps3 has had steady and very impressive numbers that have skyrocketed the ps3 past the 360 and onto the track of the ps2(best selling console ever). Pretty impressive considering that the ps2 is well over 100,000 units sold with its fairly long lifespan. Yes the wii is currently selling more, but it is not in the same market.

... Are we still talking about the PSsnooze?

At this point I can't see why anyone without a 360/Wii (usually in
combination)
is going to care about this, and as for the PSP, that product needs serious
rethinking (Sony should worry about the stick, it is hopeless. Load times, too
long for a portable. The battery life, and did I mention the control stick?)

Why did sony discontinue the 60 gig PS3?
by Yellowdart6 March 20, 2008 6:29 PM PDT
Any idea if the new 80gig package with the ds3 and MGS4 will have full and i mean FULL backwards compatabilty like the 60gig version did? I'm still befuddled why Sony would discontinue the 60 gig. I'm still confused why they didnt include it at all on the 40 gig...
