The real test...

The real test will be if you refuse to send it back and offer to buy it for yourself :)

Pleo seems like just the beginning of a new era of intelligent, life-like toys that one could truly interact with.

And what about some video?

I meant to ask why there was no video clip. I sure would like to see HER in action.
lasting effect...

I would be curious how quickly you become bored with it. I am sure it is exciting and fun the first few days, but does it have lasting effect? I saw the video on YouTube and it seemed that it's ability was definitely limited. Which to me would give it a shorter lifespan before I got bored with it. However, I suspect that it's software can be modified and upgraded, and will evolve over time. So maybe it will entertain longer, especially for those willing to tinker with the software (if possible).

Please let us know if the excitement still maintained a high level by the time you had to return it.

Warrenty or life expectancy?

I think one of the real tests for this creature machine will be whether people treat it's eventual inevitable total system failure as a "death" or try to return it for a new one.

Funny until the robots start taking our jobs

Will robots someday take our jobs? If they aren't afraid to ship our
jobs to other countries or hire illegal aliens, what stops them from
buying a robot named Ernie to screw that heater assembly together
for that hot new car?
