HD-DVD Price Cuts
by tbsteph November 2, 2007 3:22 PM PDT
For what its worth, on CNBC this morning they had a story about
Walmart cutting prices a bit early for the Christmas season. The
story focused on a couple of products being discounted including a
Toshiba HD-DVD player being sold for $99.99. It would seem
Sony et al have a ways to go in terms of price.

Who Cares?

Wake us up when one format wins - or the warring kids allow combo players to reach sensible prices.

Until that day, only fools with more money than sense will bother.

What's really sad is that we have to buy two different players at the present time (or a super-expensive combo player) in order to be assured that we'll be able to purchase and play any given new release in a hi-def format. Forgive me (and millions of other people) for not being all that interested in slapping down nearly $1,000 for a machine that will play movies on our televisions.
Blu-Ray is ALMOST a year old, PS3 released last November
by TheDaddyJDS November 3, 2007 1:31 PM PDT
The article is incorrect.

The PS3, which was the first Blu-Ray player to hit retail shelves, is ALMOST a year old.

Not two years old as the article states.

Current Blu-Ray pricing is YEARS ahead of SD DVD pricing based on SD DVD being almost a year old [1997] & still priced above $500 per SD DVD player
