Thank You!

Thank you for the write up,

Grooveshark.com was actually founded by Sam Tarantino, Josh Greenberg and Andres Barreto of Gainesville, Florida. Nathan is one of the hard working members of the team, but not actually the site owner.

Otherwise the piece was brilliant, you touched on all the major points of our enterprise. If you ever need additional information, or invites for your readership be certain to contact us. (steve.spalding@escapemg.com)

Cheers,

Okay, for all of you out there in Gator Nation, I hope you are busy "preparing"
for the game later today at 3:30, and let me just say SIA to all Tennessee fans.

Oh yeah, Grooveshark owns too

Interesting concept! I think there's a number of different p2p models out there that are interesting as well. GigaTribe, for instance, lets groups of friends create private networks so that they only share large files amongst people they know and trust...

what if your library of music is not all "LEGAL"
by Faztang September 18, 2007 1:47 PM PDT
So what if someone has a music library on their computer that has songs downloaded illegally from limewire or some other p2p service and then shared these songs with the grooveshark community? couldn't they get nabbed somehow by the riaa?
maybe grooveshark is a secret RIAA plot. "Upload your songs and we will pay you!" Next day you get a knock on the door and they lock you up! I think I saw the same tactic in the movies. A bunch of bail jumpers "won" free Yankee tickets. When they went to pick them up the police were there to arrest them.

A little confused, but can I get DRM-free 320kbps?
by EatMoreBread September 20, 2007 10:08 PM PDT
I'm a bit confused as to how this all works... I buy music from them for $0.99, then if I choose to host that music for other people to download off me, I get reimbursed if somebody chooses to download it off me?

As long as I can get a DRM-free MP3 at 320 kbps, and the selection is good, it sounds great!

Be Careful of Grooveshark!

As much as i love this idea, there is a lot of skepticism concerning the legality of what Grooveshark is doing.
