I'm buying an iphone off of ebay, and it says that you can't use any other sim card with it except the one it was activated with, but if you don't have your iphone activated when you recieve it, can you put a different sim card in it from another carrier such as aliant/bell, and activate it then? Will it work if i do that?

I have an AT&T 3G iPhone and am traveling to Croatia; I see that they have T-Mobile and the iPhone there... is it possible to just pop out the SIM card and use their SIMPA system of pre-paid calls to use phone and data services on the T-Mobile network? Or is it just simpler and better to pay the AT&T premium and do their World Traveler w/ a data plan (I have a feeling it's not even worth doing the World Traveler for Croatia and Montenegro)?

Please can anybody tell me what next to do. I just updated my iPhone software and I am prompted to insert a Compartible Sim Card to activate the iPhone. I inserted my Sim card, but it says ONLY THE SUPPORTED SIM CARD FROM THE CARRIER MAY BE USE TO ACTIVATE IT. I had lost the AT&T card I bought it with. What do I do to activate my iPhone. PLEASE URGENTLY !
