We've had promotions for a while in the UK, where you get texted a code that can be redeemed for free cinema tickets. Increasingly high-ticket items like concert tickets are delivered in the same way.

I remember being in the vicinity of the UK about a decade ago and hearing kids talk about something I'd never heard of called "texting." We move at a snail's pace here in the States!
