That's right: We've got full-on shots of the new Slacker portable device. It's still in its prototype stage, but you can get the general idea.

Worried about crap content

I am worried that it is too closed. After awhile they are going to start forcing music into your playlist. Payola Part II. Human nature i$$$$ too weak. These lawyers (RIAA) are totally screwing up our music social world. It is pretty pathetic. Hopefully someone (Google) will step up and revolt. For the people.....

Pre-Ordered and waiting...

I don't expect this to be an iPod killer, or even a Zune killer. But i really think the Slacker portable is really just touching upon a different segment of the market. I have been using the slacker web player since it's release in March and have to say if the hardware is upto par with the software then they will have a great combo. Also noted that if they can get the third party support then i think they will have a good following. Slacker also stated that it would not be affected by the recent internet radio royalty price hikes (for now). 10 more days, and we'll let the reviews come rolling in. Also check out www.slackersocial.com Seems to be a good start to a social backing.

Slacker Man

I really hope it takes off. Competition is the foundation for newer and better technology. Still I have trouble seeing any third party players (I'm looking at you Apple) buying this format when their own is still so popular. I am afraid that slacker may be ahead of its time. Though I really hope I'm wrong.
