At CES today, LG announced the first player that can handle both Blu-ray and HD DVD discs which will ship in February for $1,199.

If the studios and tech hardware companies can't makeup their mind at least LG will be there to keep consumers from being caught behind an obsolete technology. Hurray fro LG taking that brave step forward and covering our bases with this sweet multi-player.

No HDMI 1.3 and no CD playback?!?

Had really looked forward to a combo player, but with no future proof HDMI 1.3 and no music CD playback they can take this player and shove it where the sun ain't shining!

Finally, a player I can buy!

This insures the industry's success, as well as bringing my personally one step
closer to HD media. I'll likley wait for the 2nd gen succesor around fall/winter,
but this looks very promising.
