This is cool, but...

I really like the idea of an ipod with a touch sensitive surround. I have an old G3
iPod which had only one external moving part (hold) and I still prefer it to this
new fangled click wheel thingy. I'd prefer a fully touch sensitive screen though.
Imagine PSP, but just the screen. I'm not so sure about adding new tricks to the
iPod. It's the way things are going these days though. Hopefully it won't turn
into a jack of all trades...

12 Jackson Brown Fans

I know of at least 20 avid Jackson Brown fans. I believe the utility and performance of the iPod has to have resurrected earlier fan interest and created new interest.

Jackson Browne's Live Solo CD is fantastic- made a fan out of me. (except for his over political stuff)
A Defensive Move Perhaps?

Is there any chance this might be to prevent other companies from doing something similar? Although Apple doesn't have much to worry about, Sony's upcoming video walkman might be the only thing that might challenge this (if they can write new software...). Perhaps this is a way of preemptively cutting off any future competitors?

Yeah, I'm an unrepentant Jackson Browne fan, though the above CD is the only one I own at present.

On the UI: I doubt that it's patentable, as there's plenty of prior art on scrollbars in many other windowing systems, including Alto (the original GUI by Xerox).
